Russian Restaurants In LA
Russian cuisine extracts its rich and varied character from the wide and multicultural expanse of Russia. With a combination of plentiful fish, poultry, game, mushrooms, berries, and honey, its foundations were laid by the peasant food of the rural population in an often harsh climate. Rye, wheat, barley, and millet crops supplied the ingredients for a plethora of breads, pancakes, cereals, kvass, beer, and vodka. Flavorful soups and stews centered on seasonal or storable produce, fish, and meats. Well into the 20th century, this wholly native food remained the staple for the vast majority of Russians.
There are quite a lot Russian restaurants in LA serving original Russian dishes. You will get an aristocratic Russian experience here. They are dedicated to preparing culinary delights reminiscent of fine cuisines from a whole other era. Here you’ll find flaky pastry crusts, succulent shrimps and fine wines fit for the Tsar.
Russian Village
Russian Village
The Russian Village located in Sherman Oaks is the only Russian restaurant around, and it’s all you need. The interior is slightly dark, but has spots of neon throughout. They serve the traditional Russian cuisine, so you can count on your favorites; from stroganoff and chicken kiev to kebabs and borscht.
Some stand out dishes are Salmon, Shrimp cocktail and scampi and the Chicken Tabaka; it’s a whole hen with the bone in, and it’s served deep fried and breaded. It’s wonderful and different.
Friday and Saturday nights at the Russian Village there is an 80’s flavor band, and they often fill the large dance floor. They play mostly pop music, sometimes it is even in Russian. And is quite a treat.

Robert’s Russian Cuisine is full of surprises. I’m a little familiar with Russian cuisine, but have never ventured to try the frog legs until now. They are surprisingly delicious, and I won’t say they taste like chicken.
For the less adventurous, definitely try the chicken stroganoff, if you are used to beef this will be a welcome change. It’s flavorful and lighter than its carne counterpart. Or if you are a real meat eater, enjoy the baby lamb chops, they are moist and savory.
